The Speaker Meeting relies on host groups volunteering.
If every group was willing to host the meeting regularly in rotation, it would be every 2 years or so. Smaller groups can co-host with another group.
Requirements:
Find speakers. Can be just Al-Anon or AA and Al-Anon, even Alateen. Total time to speak is about 1 hour, divided among the speakers. If there is an AA and an Al-Anon speaker, the AA speaker goes first for about 20 minutes and the Al-Anon speaker follows. If one Al-Anon speaker can’t keep up an interesting talk for about 40 minutes, consider getting two speakers from Al-Anon. Al-Anon has a Guideline for Speakers; consider giving a copy to your speakers.
Get readers for the 5 readings (to be supplied by Speaker Meeting Coordinator)
Help to open facility and set up appropriately
Help with birthday chips, asking people to come forward and giving them the proper chip.
Pass the basket for 7th Tradition.
Optional but nice: bring food for potluck, cake for birthday celebration
Clean up the room before leaving
Please use the following checklist to collect information and then upload it to the Speaker Meeting Coordinator prior to the meeting. Speaker Mtg Sign Up Sheet (PDF Version)
To sign up your group contact the Speaker Meeting Coordinator.
